Wagering requirements: base, multiplier, and turnover

A wagering requirement measures qualifying betting turnover before promotional funds may convert. The multiplier alone cannot tell you the obligation.

The key points
  • Multiply the correct base, not just the headline award.
  • Turnover is different from deposits and losses.
  • Completion does not guarantee a surviving balance.

Identify the base before multiplying

The base might be the bonus, deposit plus bonus, or winnings from a spin package. Write the formula in dollars before looking at a progress percentage. A 10x label on $20 differs materially from the same label on $120. If the terms do not identify the base clearly, ask support to quote the applicable clause.

Turnover counts amounts wagered. It is not a fee charged upfront and does not mean you must deposit that total. The same surviving funds may be wagered more than once, but losses can exhaust the account before the target is reached.

Contribution changes counted progress

A wager's face value and its qualifying contribution can differ. If a $5 wager contributes 20%, it adds $1 toward the target. A game that is excluded may contribute zero, or its use may breach a separate restriction. Those are different consequences and need separate checks.

Promotional credits, cash wagers, and bonus-derived winnings may not all count the same way. Pending or voided rounds can also affect the displayed total. Keep a record of settled transactions rather than inferring progress from deposits.

Read completion alongside stopping

A progress meter is an accounting display, not a recommendation to continue. Before acceptance, inspect the deadline, cancellation terms, maximum wager, and what happens when you withdraw early. A completed meter can still leave verification or payment processing outstanding.

Do not increase stakes to catch up with a deadline. If the remaining requirement exceeds your planned play, letting an award lapse can prevent additional losses. A nearly finished requirement has no claim on money allocated to essentials.

Visual comparison: the base changes the requirement

These three hypothetical conditions all use a 50-unit bonus and a 10× multiplier. The deposit-plus-bonus example adds a 100-unit deposit. The final example counts only half of each eligible stake. Amounts show cumulative turnover, not money you must deposit or a prediction of your loss. Check whether a condition is lawful locally; these are arithmetic examples, not available offers.

Hypothetical example

A $30 award at 12x bonus-only creates a $360 target. If an eligible game contributes 50%, $100 of settled wagers adds $50 of progress. The remaining counted target is $310. No part of this calculation predicts whether funds will remain.

Common questions

Does 1x mean risk-free?

No. Even one required wager can lose, and other offer restrictions may remain.

Can I subtract losses from the target?

Usually the defined measure is qualifying stakes, not net loss. The offer's own calculation governs.
